Department/Organization: Campus Mail Administration


Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some weekends, holidays, and extended hours


Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Campus Mail provides daily operational oversight for all physical locations. Oversees quality control and assurance by implementing strategies to reduce errors and increase productivity. Maintains minimal staffing requirements for successful operations. Approves payroll for operational staff.


Additional Department Summary: Manages the move-in process and other peak or seasonal mail-related events. Acts as a liaison to F&O Shared Administrative Services departments for special projects. Oversees the accounting processes specific to daily mail operations. Plays a pivotal role in advancing the University of Alabama's mission by ensuring the efficient and effective operation of mail services. Contributes to the University's continued success through strategic oversight, operational excellence, and commitment to service quality.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience in a mail processing, logistics/distribution, and/or supply chain environment; OR master's degree and four (4) years of experience in a mail processing, logistics/distribution, and/or supply chain environment.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire and have and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within a fast paced, dynamic environment. Proficiency in financial management and compliance. Ability to supervise staff and manage vendor relationships. Advanced knowledge of USPS regulations and procedures. Proficient in the use of Office 365 software. Ability to understand all mail center processes and procedures. Ability to stay current on mail industry trends and pertinent US Postal regulations.


Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Operations or Logistics Management. Mail industry certifications (MQC, CMM, CMDSM, EMCM, etc.)
