As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.\r

POSITION DUTIES

This important role plans, coordinates, and oversees support services to the Disability Determination Services of Maryland in the areas of fiscal management, Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12) security, Cooperative Disability Unit, Medical Relations, Case Control, and office facilities management.\r

Position Duties Include:�\r
\r
\r
Direct and coordinate\r
all agency financial activities in accordance with the Federal and State Fiscal\r
Regulations and policies�\r
Ensure consistent\r
interpretation of and compliance with State procurement or contract laws,\r
regulations, policies,�and procedures�\r
Establish goals for all unit in order to meet the agency's mission\r
Forecast, monitor, and prepare the State and Federal budgets�\r
Provide supervision\r
and managerial support to all reporting areas for technical functions within regulations�\r
Monitor and oversee the\r
implementation of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12)\r
process within the agency�\r
Work with MSDE Office of Human Resources staff regarding personnel actions, recruitment and staffing, and HR policy�\r
Provide\r
supervision, guidance and policy interpretation for the Medical Relations Office (MRO) staff; monitor the MRO community outreach programs and presentations�\r
Assume lead responsibilities in\r
analysis and recommendations on fiscal and statistical issues, budget\r
facilities management and Security compliance�\r
Act on behalf of the Director of Disability Determination Services when needed\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or\r
university\r
\r
Experience: Six years of professional experience in\r
rehabilitation services, social services, or adjudicating disability claims.\r
Three years of required experience must include direct supervision of other\r
professional employees and/or specialized experience as the technical lead\r
providing oversite of personnel and financial resources of a Federal or State\r
funded program.\r
\r
\r

Certified coursework in management or administration\r
\r
Master's degree from an accredited college or university\r

reviewing and implementing HR policies\r
