Associate Manager, Executive and Stakeholder Communications

Corporate Communications is responsible for planning and implementing proactive communications on major initiatives; working to promote positive, accurate and fair media coverage of FINRA; and promoting an engaged and well-informed workforce, among other activities.

The Associate Manager, Executive and Stakeholder Communications works with the Communications leadership team and staff on a broad range of strategic Board, Executive and Member Firm communications functions and initiatives. This role provides strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail; and will quickly and accurately get to the heart of complex topics in order to distill the information for a broad audience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work closely across the Corporate Communications team and collaborate with other business units, senior leaders, and executives on key messaging; and develop, write, edit, and proofread a broad range of key content. This includes executive and CEO talking points, event summaries, newsletters, transcripts and other written or multi-media materials.
  • Provide professional copy-editing and proofreading expertise on a variety of executive and stakeholder communications materials.
  • Manage executive communications inquiries for the CEO, including working with subject-matter experts across the organization to develop responses.
  • Copyedit and standardize material to ensure consistent style, grammar, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Generate and maintain departmental and corporate talking points libraries.
  • Coordinate logistics for executive speaking events, including those of the CEO.
  • Manage a weekly email newsletter, including editing and writing on deadline, with an audience of more than 30,000 securities industry and other professionals.
  • Assist executives with Board communications, including writing and editing email and other communications.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in journalism, communications, or related field.
  • Demonstrated copy editing, writing for news or other professional publications, reporting experience, and/or executive communications experience.
  • Knowledge of the financial industry and/or regulatory agencies highly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond to and work with stakeholders at the highest levels of the organization in a timely, professional manner.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and proven ability to prioritize effectively, manage competing priorities simultaneously, and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.
  • Working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • AP style familiarity and ability to work within FINRA's style guidelines.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise careful judgment and discretion with respect to strategic and confidential material.

  • General hybrid office environment.
  • Highly dynamic, fast-paced environment, with staff managing multiple, high-visibility priorities.
  • Some travel and extended hours as needed.

In addition to location, actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons

California: Minimum Salary $91,500, Maximum Salary $170,900

Washington, DC/Maryland: Minimum Salary $91,500, Maximum Salary $163,700

Colorado/Hawaii: Minimum Salary $79,500, Maximum Salary $142,300

New York, NY: Minimum Salary $95,400, Maximum Salary $170,900

Washington State: Minimum Salary $79,500, Maximum Salary $163,700

Time Off and Paid Leave*

FINRA encourages its employees to focus on their health and wellness in many ways, including through a generous time-off program of 15 days of paid time off, 5 personal days and 9 sick days (all pro-rated in the first year). Additionally, we are proud to support our communities by providing two volunteer service days (based on full-time schedule).
