SALARY:

$40.42/hour - $41.63/hour

SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operator will be responsible for supporting the operations and maintenance of the Automated People Mover. This position is responsible for the day-to-day support of customer service through effective communications, maintenance of balanced headways, buildup and reduction of trains for revenue service; effective utilization of emergency and failure management strategies; support of maintenance through efficient implementation of the Rulebook and Operating Procedures and clearances; and any other support which affects or could affect customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Central Control -- Control center operations, dispatch terminal, communication interface panels, and process control systems.
  • Interact with the Automatic Train Control (ATC) system, manage the assembly of rail vehicle consists, and ensure that the scheduled trains are correctly configured and available for movement into customer service.
  • Interact with ATC, Automatic Train Protection (ATP), and communication systems. Implement and/or coordinate contingency plans that include the necessary strategies as defined by the supervisor during service disruptions and emergencies to minimize delays and inconvenience to the customer.
  • Responsible for the power configuration through interaction with the Power Distribution System for regular service, maintenance, and emergency activities.
  • Works within defined policies and procedures regarding both routine and emergency operations.
  • Interact with the communications and CCTV systems, monitor platforms, stations, intrusion alarms, customer activity, and any other system that affects customer service.
  • Works variable hours and shifts as needed for coverage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Assist in continuous improvement programs on periodic inspections and schedules to reduce out-of-service time.
  • Participate in safety awareness programs, periodic training, and other safety-related activities.
  • Know and utilize safe work practices and ensure that others working in the area are also working safely.
  • Valid Driver's License

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in English
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class C Driver's License
  • Practical computer skills working with multiple screens, data entry, and report retrieval.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and computer
  • Ability to pass replacement testing (physical, drug, and alcohol)
  • Proficient in English and excellent communication/radio skills

Additional Preferred Qualification

  • Associate degree (A.S.) in a related mechanical or technical discipline and/or Vocational Training/Certification in a related discipline (Previous work experience may be recognized in lieu of formal education)
  • Ability to use various computer applications for reports, shift communications, inventory control, etc.
  • Able to communicate in multiple languages.
