About GameChanger:

We believe in the life-changing impact youth sports have on and off the field because they encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence—important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By building the first and best place to experience the youth sports moments important to our community, we are helping families elevate the next generation through youth sports.

So if you love sports and their community-building potential, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote-first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and we are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.

The Position:

As a Computer Vision Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of highly skilled engineers building and deploying the next generation of sports tech CV models & applications. You will be a leader, mentor, and hands-on developer when needed. You will collaborate with cross functional and engineering leaders across the organization, and report to one of our Engineering Directors.

The Computer Vision team at GameChanger is rapidly growing, and is working on the frontier of placing the power of computer vision into mobile apps for youth sports. You will help to hire and onboard more talented Computer Vision Engineers, and grow GameChanger's capabilities while maintaining a customer-obsessed culture. Through a combination of edge and server deployed models, you will partner with other product teams to place the incredible power of computer vision into our users' hands on game day.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a high-performance and high-trust environment.
  • Design, develop, and implement computer vision and machine learning algorithms and models.
  • Collaborate with other teams, leaders, and engineers to integrate computer vision and machine learning solutions into the GC app or deploy them into our backend.
  • Stay up-to-date on state-of-the-art models and techniques, and apply them to projects.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand the problems facing different users in different sports domains.
  • Think creatively about how to use new, existing, and custom models to accomplish business objectives.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of critical features used by millions of users.
  • Ship early and often, with new app versions released every week.
  • Build a culture and infrastructure necessary for rapid iteration and experimentation
  • Promote responsible engineering practices across the engineering organization.
  • Help engineers gain technical breadth and depth, improve judgment, and develop into tomorrow's leaders.

Who You Are:

  • A leader with at least 2 years of experience managing engineering teams, strong preference for computer vision subject matter. Mobile experience also preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with popular computer vision and machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenCV.
  • Experience with all stages of an ML project, from dataset management to model training, iteration, and deployment, including infrastructure to accelerate each stage
  • Comfort working and leading in a Lean and Agile environment.
  • Experience with object detection and recognition, image and video processing, and their application to solve real-world problems.
  • Understanding the pros and cons of running different models, hardware, and processing modes, and deployment configurations (e.g. edge vs server).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Someone who can connect people to the mission of serving our users.
  • History of successful product delivery.

Perks:
