The New York University School of Global Public Health is seeking a part-time Recruitment & Cohort Coordinator to work directly with faculty researchers, a study Project Manager and a growing research team on MOST Quits, a five-year National Institutes of Health-funded study that will utilize Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) to optimize smoking cessation treatment in HIV clinical care for people living with HIV (PLWH). The project will test an intervention to directly target patient barriers to quitting and clinical care barriers to tobacco treatment by optimizing a cost-effective, sustainable and immediately scalable smoking cessation package tailored specifically for the HIV clinical care context. We will be conducting respondent-driven sampling to recruit a sample of 500 participants over several years.

This study will be an opportunity to apply and grow your study recruitment and engagement skills, data and participant management research experience, publish, and contribute to a project that will have a significant impact on improving the health of a population that experiences significant health disparities.

This position is primarily in-person and may require some flexible hours.

  • Work with the Principal Investigator (PI), study Co-Investigators, the study Project manager and other study research staff to implement a randomized controlled trial based on the MOST methodology.
  • Coordinate with the research team to implement the respondent-driven sampling methodology.
  • Coordinate the recruitment process, including seed selection and coupon distribution.
  • Track the recruitment process and adjust strategies as needed to reach project recruitment targets.
  • Track recruitment chains (respondent recruiters and "recruitees"), ensure accurate data collection and entry and coordinate incentive payment systems.
  • Monitor data quality and completeness.
  • Schedule visits, meet with study participants and study recruiters, conduct eligibility screenings and informed consent, enroll eligible participants into the study and conduct survey assessments.
  • Work with the team to ensure staff are assigned for recruitment phone and in-person screenings and study visits.
  • Support participant retention strategies, data collection, documentation and tracking.
  • Build relationships with community organizations serving the study population and oversee outreach efforts to engage organizations and the target population in recruitment efforts. Address community concerns and promote study benefits.
  • Facilitate communication among investigators and study team members and among the research team and community organizations
  • Ensure compliance with IRB requirements, maintain ethical standards and confidentiality.
    • Master's degree preferred, bachelor's degree required
    • Experience with clinical trials and familiarity with respondent-driven sampling and similar network-based recruitment methods.
    • Experience with data collection tools and databases.
    • Experience with REDCap required.
    • Analytical skills to troubleshoot recruitment and retention challenges and develop solutions to improve study processes.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, experience with engaging study participants in research and ability to build rapport with study participants.
    • Empathy and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of diverse populations.
    • Experience engaging community organizations and ability to tailor communication to diverse audiences.
    • Ability to work effectively with marginalized or stigmatized communities.
    • Commitment to ensuring data quality and integrity.
    • Experience working in a collaborative team-based environment.
    • Understanding human subjects' protection, confidentiality and privacy regulations and research ethics. To apply, submit a cover letter and resume to Interfolio. In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary range for this position is $20-$30.
