POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care tailored to the age group of the patients in the assigned units. Ensuring high-quality care is provided efficiently and safely in line with the unit's care standards. The role embodies the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization, showcasing excellence in work practices and clinical care. Upholding a respectful and considerate approach towards staff, physicians, patients, and families.
Requirements
  • EDUCATION: Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Holding a valid RN license in New Mexico or a Compact state. Mandatory BLS Certification within 2 weeks of employment. Attainment of all other necessary certifications within 6 months of hire. Nurses possessing certifications at the time of employment must keep them updated without a grace period for renewal.
  • SKILLS:
    • Up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to the patient population being served.
    • Awareness and sensitivity to patient rights in care delivery.
    • Effective communication tailored to the age of the patient.
  • EXPERIENCE: Relevant clinical background.
  • NATURE OF SUPERVISION: Directly reporting to the Patient Care Director or Manager.
  • ENVIRONMENT:
    • Bloodborne pathogen C (OR, PACU, L&D);
    • Bloodborne pathogen B (other Patient Care areas). Exposure to infectious diseases and x-rays.
  • Works in a clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free setting amidst occasionally challenging professional interactions. Flexible working hours to accommodate unforeseen schedule changes and emergencies.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to manage emergency situations, prolonged standing and walking, substantial physical effort for patient or equipment handling, reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Judgement of distance and spatial relationships, peripheral vision, color distinction, normal or corrected hearing and visual acuity, manual dexterity, and fine motor coordination.
