Job Overview


The Clinical Supervisor plays a vital role in the Nursing Department, working closely with the Nursing Department Director/Manager to ensure effective leadership and operational management of clinical services. This position is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of nursing care, focusing on patient safety and quality outcomes.

The Clinical Supervisor employs sound principles of human resources and budget management to oversee the daily delivery of nursing services to patients and their families. This role is essential in fostering comprehensive patient and family support through active collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include supervising nursing staff, providing direct patient care as necessary, and mentoring team members to enhance their professional development. The Clinical Supervisor exemplifies professionalism and excellence, serving as a role model for clinical and service standards.



Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. National specialty certification is a plus.

Licenses/Certifications:
Must hold a current RN license in the State of New Mexico. BLS and ACLS certifications are required, with PALS/NRP as applicable. TNCC certification is necessary or to be obtained within six months. CPI or equivalent must be secured within six months for Behavioral Health and Emergency Department roles. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications must be from the American Heart Association.

Skills:
The candidate must demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to provide age-appropriate care and services to patients in the assigned unit/department.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience is required.

Supervision:
Reports directly to Nursing Leadership.

Work Environment:
Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. The role involves working irregular hours and managing multiple patient care activities simultaneously, often in unpredictable situations.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to handle emergency situations and endure prolonged periods of standing. Knowledge of proper body mechanics is essential. The role may require positioning, pushing, or transferring patients or equipment. Normal hearing and visual acuity are necessary, along with manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.
