EverQuote is looking for an experienced and collaborative Director of Human Resources Operations to join our growing team.

This is a hybrid position requiring at least 2-3 days per week in our corporate headquarters located in Cambridge, MA.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Director of HR Operations is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the HR operations for the organization including benefits, compensation, employee relations, training, performance management, change management, compliance, employee records, and other workplace initiatives. This role will lead a team of HR professionals, providing direction, support and enabling their success while increasing the team's proficiency in employee relations, HR-related compliance, immigration, benefits operations, audits and other core operations functions. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong business acumen and will serve as a professional and positive leader in a changing and dynamic environment. What you'll do:

Onboarding & Training: Coordinate the onboarding process post offer acceptance through company orientation, accelerating employee readiness and ensuring a smooth handoff to the hiring manager. Support other training initiatives as needed.

Performance Management: Develop and implement clear and effective performance management processes including competencies for use in evaluation of employee performance, regular performance reviews and goal setting, calibration of performance ratings across teams and departments, coaching and development support to managers and employees through expectation reset conversations and progressive performance improvement plans.

Job Leveling: Work in close collaboration with senior leaders to establish and maintain a clear job leveling framework to ensure consistent and fair job classifications, internal mobility and career progression paths.

Compensation: Work in close collaboration with the finance department to develop and maintain competitive salary ranges and incentive structures that align with industry standards and company goals.

Benefits: Work in close collaboration with the finance department to manage benefits programs, including open enrollment, administration, and communication to ensure competitive and attractive employee benefits offerings.

HRIS & Reporting: Own the HRIS analytics and reporting systems, ensure accurate and timely updates to all people-related data, develop dashboard reports to track key HR metrics trends, and provide insights to inform people strategies.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in HR operations, leading initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance the employee experience.

HR Policies & Procedures: Develop, maintain and communicate employee policies and procedures that ensure compliance with legal requirements and alignment with company values.

Compliance: Ensure all HR practices and policies comply with local, state, and federal regulations, staying abreast of changes in employment law and best practices. Partner with senior leaders and legal partners on complaints, investigations and other legal matters.

HR Projects: Lead and support HR projects as needed, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive successful outcomes.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing HR functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve complex problems in a fast-paced setting with teams in multiple states and international locations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, understanding of group dynamics, and successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with a diverse client group.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HRIS and business applications, adopting technology to organize work, executing projects, performing data analysis, and streamlining processes.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, judgment, negotiating, influencing, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver formal presentations or training to employees and managers.
  • Prior successful experience working in a high growth environment, preferably in the technology industry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to adapt with unexpected changes and deal with ambiguity.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) are a plus.
