Description

Responsible for shop operations, directs and coordinates production activities for the plant. Primary role of managing large assembly work and tube production operations at B&W's Chanute Operations. Accountable for employee's efficiency and utilization KPI's along with on time order execution for our Global Parts & Services Business. Must manage many people and manufacturing processes.

· Ensures operations conforms to the company's policies and procedures.

· Monitors the execution of manufacturing schedules.

· Ensures that all quality standards are met.

· Develops budgets and manages activities to accomplish objectives.

· Coordinates operations and communications within and between various functional areas.

· Develops and recommends short and long-range objectives consistent with organization guidelines.

· Plans and recommends changes in layout of production equipment and manpower to assure optimum manufacturing costs.

· Responsible for the health and safety of employees.

· Plans and identifies need and justification for capital equipment.

· Ensures improved employee moral through the proper administration of the labor agreement.

· Plans for the selection and development of supervisory personnel.

· Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manger requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling

Qualifications

  • 1 - 10 years of manufacturing operations experience
  • 2 - 10 years of managing people
  • 3 - 5 years of assembly flow production experience

1. Manufacturing Process Optimization:

  • Ability to streamline production processes, improve efficiency, and reduce lead times.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques, CNC machining, and material handling to maximize output while minimizing costs.

2. Supply Chain Management:

  • Proficiency in managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of raw materials and components.
  • Capability to assess and mitigate supply chain risks, such as disruptions in material availability or logistics.
  • Understanding of inventory management principles to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize waste.

3. Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Expertise in implementing quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards) and conducting quality audits.
  • Ability to enforce quality standards throughout the fabrication process, from raw materials inspection to final product testing.
  • Experience in resolving quality issues, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous quality improvements.

4. Project Management and Planning:

  • Strong project management skills to oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Capability to create detailed production schedules, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress.
  • Knowledge of project planning tools and software (e.g., Gantt charts, ERP systems) to facilitate efficient project execution and resource utilization.
