Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work in the Michael J.

Birrer, MD, PhD laboratory.

The laboratory is part of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and focuses on the study of the biology of ovarian cancer with an aim to translate the results into an improvement in the clinical management of the disease.

This includes developing multiple biomarkers and molecular signatures that may be used for the early detection, diagnosis, and therapeutic stratification of ovarian cancer patients.

These studies will focus on the identification of novel therapeutic targets that can be used in new types of treatments and clinical trials available to ovarian cancer patients.

The laboratory utilizes cutting edge technologies including single cell analysis, spatial genomics, animal models, novel cell cultures and gene expression techniques.

The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will have a PhD in cancer biology, physiology, or biochemistry with previous experience in cell culture, animal studies, and/or data analysis.

Rockefeller Cancer Institute's efforts to attain NCI Designation. The Winthrop P.

Rockefeller Cancer Institute is the only cancer center in the state of Arkansas with a robust cancer research portfolio and a mission to improve cancer outcomes for all Arkansans.

Its 190+ members conduct outstanding cancer research within Cancer Therapeutics, Cancer Biology, and Cancer Prevention & Population Sciences research programs.

Cancer Institute members receive approximately $20 million in extramural cancer research funds annually, including multiple COBRE grants. The Cancer Institute has six institutional shared resource facilities and has recently hired 26 laboratory-based cancer researchers.
