Job Summary

As a member of our Geospatial Information Technology Team at Michael Baker International, a GIT Technical Specialist delivers high-quality projects to a diverse range of clients, including state, local, and private entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and/or manage projects in the private land development and public/municipal sectors, ensuring project goals and objectives are met within prescribed timeframes and funding parameters.
  • Develop and write proposals, define scopes of work, and create cost/bid estimates for various projects.
  • Perform mapping-related research, boundary analysis, calculations, exhibits, and legal descriptions for land development and public works projects.
  • Coordinate field work for survey crews, review construction plans, and prepare exhibits.
  • Process and review survey data, compile topographic information, and compute digital terrain models for topographic mapping.
  • Prepare final maps, parcel maps, record of survey, and ALTA maps, as well as legal descriptions and associated plats.
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure coordination of technical surveying and engineering aspects of a project.
  • Perform or assist with field work for surveying projects of all types.

Professional Requirements

  • RLS or LSIT is preferred.
  • A two-year degree is required, with a Bachelor's degree in Surveying Geomatics, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of Surveying Geomatics experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, Inroads, and Trimble Business Center is necessary.
  • Experience with Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Station, and data collector survey equipment is also required.
