Assistant Commissioner for Video Content & Strategy

The Mid-American Conference is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Commissioner for Video Content & Strategy. The individual selected will report to the Associate Commissioner for Communications.

Responsibilities include:
Video Content & Strategy
  • Create video content that drives views, conversations, fan engagement/interactions, attention to the MidAmerican Conference website, social media platforms in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all video content created for the Mid-American Conference website/social media platforms and conference events (Football Kickoff, Championships, Honors Dinner, etc.)
  • Responsible for shooting, editing and post-production for all Mid-American Conference videos – including highlight and feature packages.
  • Create content and features to promote student-athletes through social media.
  • Generate video content for video boards for all MAC Championship events.
  • Build MAC commercials and PSAs to air on ESPN Linear broadcasts.
  • Assist the Associate Commissioner of Communications in the continual development and execution of the MAC Social/Digital Strategic Plan.

Managing ESPN Relationship
  • Serve as the Conference liaison for ESPN Campus Productions & other MAC television initiatives.
  • Work in conjunction with ESPN and campus production teams in scheduling and maintaining proper standards for ESPN on-campus productions.
  • Monitor and enforce ESPN broadcast standards and Mid-American Conference media policies.

Sport Responsibilities/Oversight
  • Oversee day-to-day media relations for Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field and Outdoor Track & Field. Includes overseeing player of the week, postseason voting, and staffing regular season and post-season events as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Video production skills, including shooting, editing, writing and post-production, for content for various platforms.
  • Demonstrated video archiving skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of footage acquisition with various cameras and formats.
  • Must be proficient with applicable technology (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere)
  • Effective time management skills with an ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience utilizing social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) for communications, marketing and business purposes.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Travel and evening and weekend work is required.
