Senior Accountant

General Position Summary

The Accountant assists and supports the accounting team with financial reporting, account analysis, general ledger maintenance and account reconciliation. The Accountant must work in a collaborative manner with co-workers and have strong organization skills. The Accountant derives his or her authority and performs all duties with guidance from the Accounting Manager and Controller.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

· Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

· Complete weekly and/or monthly reconciliations for all trial balance accounts, along with research and follow up, if necessary, for assigned Joint Venture and/or Corporate entities.

· Maintain and assist with the processing of fixed assets, including additions, disposals, transfers, and monthly depreciation

· Prepares monthly and quarterly sales tax filing and maintains the general ledger accounts.

· Intercompany and handling multiple entities

· Maintain union liability accounts and reconciliations

· Providing support to project staff

· Assist with insurance analysis and coordinating with insurance department

· Interaction with all department managers, as well as internal/external companies

· Assist in external audits with timely and accurate PBC requests and supporting schedules

Job Skills & Abilities Guidelines

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting

· 5 years' experience in accounting in corporate environment

· Solid knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial statement preparation

· Proactive, motivated and self-starter with roll-up-the-sleeves work ethic

· Ability to prioritize workload, learn quickly, and maintain sensitivity to confidential nature of assignments

· Strong organization, presentation, and communication skills

· Knowledge of computer systems (JD Edwards preferred), including Microsoft Office products

· Willingness to extend themselves and assist other people

· Willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially during period close and reporting cycles

Work Environment

This job is performed both in the office, on site - 5 days we week
