Physician - Palliative Care(Community Living Center)

This palliative care specialist will also contribute to and support the growth and development of successful inpatient and outpatient palliative program which will focus on use of evidence-based practices and with collaboration of the interdisciplinary team to enhance symptom management, clarify goals of care, and implement strategic care plans to increase utilization and access to quality-of-life services for patients with a serious illness.

They will work with the interdisciplinary team to complete palliative or hospice consultations including direct patient care for inpatients and have dedicated time for care and management of outpatient Veterans in the palliative program via face to face and telehealth appointments.

They must be capable of working in interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care across a wide variety of settings with outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills.


Duties include but not limited to:

Provides direct patient care in the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC Community Living Center (CLC) as well as both administrative and clinical leadership in development of the inpatient and outpatient palliative program.

Works closely with all healthcare professionals throughout MGVAMC.
Participates in quality assurance programs and chart reviews.
Complies with all quality performance measures and improvement programs.
The physician will be subject to professional performance, including clinical and technical skills, as well as routine MGVAMC performance improvement monitoring activities (e.g. Ongoing Professional Evaluations (OPPE), Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE), etc.).
Participates in Medical Staff committees and task forces.
Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of GREC.

Exercises full professional responsibilities for their findings, interpretations, decisions, recommendations and reports in accordance with the clinical privileges this institution provided to them.

This position is supervised by the MGVAMC CLC Medical Director.
Participate in VA continuing educational activities.

Work Schedule:
Monday -Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off:
50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
