Amentum is actively looking for a Supervising Discipline Engineer (SDE). The role involves various engineering tasks from initial planning to final design phase for projects of advanced complexity. The SDE oversees technical electrical project knowledge and manages the electrical engineering team to meet customer and project requirements related to scope, scheduling, and budgets. Acts as a liaison between discipline engineers and Project Managers concerning project scope, budget, scheduling, overall engineering and design requirements, and employee administration. The SDE reports to the Chief Discipline Engineer.
Local candidates in Denver, CO are preferred, but this role might be remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that engineering documents comply with applicable state laws/regulations.
  • Coordinate electrical discipline's engineering with other disciplines.
  • Maintain records, files, and documents related to the electrical discipline.
  • Assign preparers and checkers for electrical discipline specifications.
  • Establish schedules and budgets to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain technical coordination with the Principal Engineer.
  • Submit periodic reports and forecasts on the status of the electrical discipline.
  • Comply with state requirements for continuing education and licenses.
  • Upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities through additional coursework and training.
  • Advise Project Engineering Manager on assignment statuses.
  • Collaborate with Chief Electrical Engineer and Project Engineering Managers on employee evaluations and promotions.
  • Lead manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements development for a project.
  • Lead all aspects of electrical estimating.
  • Responsible for performance management and mentoring.
  • Provide assistance on technical issues and process improvement.
  • Train and mentor team members.
  • Develop training programs and conduct training sessions.
  • Create positive working relationships with peers and organizations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 7+ years of electrical engineering/design experience.
  • 1+ years of managing/supervising a medium to large electrical design team.
  • Strong experience in physical design, control, protection, metering, communication requirements, power system analysis, and utility interfaces.
  • Understanding of various engineering disciplines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Must have a Professional Engineer License (PE) and ability to obtain state licenses.
  • Potential travel may be required.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

US Citizenship is necessary. No dual citizenship allowed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD MEP, MicroStation, and/or Revit design experience.
  • Government facility project experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring salary range: $113k - 140k. Salary based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and alignment with market data.
