Project Overview:

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel's scope of service in Sentinel's current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. We use our expertise to help our customers securely and effectively transform mission delivery.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will supervise all discipline engineers & designers working in the 3D model, and plan assigned work to meet project schedules. Your oversight will ensure that a project's 3D model is in configuration control with the actual design and issued documents are of high quality, reliable, safe, and compliant with standards and regulations. #LI-SNH

Major Responsibilities:

Level 1

  • Supervises the operations of PD&P designers and drafters who work as a small sized group. Plans and coordinates the assigned work to meet the project schedules​.
  • Prepares the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed design 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and construction drawings.​
  • Develops designs for complete and complex PD&P engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed​. Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Supports development of work plans and schedules for the PD&P design work including estimate for material quantities, design deliverables and staffing needs to meet the project milestones.​
  • Supervises preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.​
  • Monitors work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy, and assigns lead roles​.
  • Prepares PD&P design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.​
  • Coordinates or makes jobsite visits as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents​.
  • Reviews or defines PD&P engineering scope changes, as required, for project management.​
  • Maintains up-to-date skills in Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) relevant to design work and ensures that maximum use is made thereof​.

Level 2

  • Supervises directly or through a subordinate level the operations of PD&P designers and drafters who work as a medium sized group in a particular discipline. Plans and coordinates the assigned work to meet the project schedules​.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Level 1: Requires an associate's degree or certificate in engineering/CAD (or international equivalent) and 10-12 years of experience, or in lieu of degree, 12-14 years of relevant experience.
  • Level 2: Requires an associate's degree or certificate in engineering/CAD (or international equivalent) and 12-14 years of experience, or in lieu of degree, 14-17 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Past experience with Bechtel project procedures for 3D model control is required.
  • Past Bechtel project experience.
