As a key member of our Parks and Forestry department, you will be responsible for leading a team of maintenance workers and overseeing the upkeep of our city's urban forest, parks, and recreational areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of maintenance workers in the care and maintenance of the city's urban forest, including tree trimming, removal, and planting.
  • Supervise the installation and maintenance of Christmas lighting and special event setup and breakdown.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of park restrooms and picnic areas, and the removal of litter and debris.
  • Maintain park areas, including mowing, weeding, and painting of structures.
  • Prepare and monitor facilities for reservations and special events, interacting with the public and handling requests and complaints.
  • Supervise and lead workers, assuming responsibility for their safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • Valid Utah driver's license.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • One year of truck and trailer driving experience.
  • Ability to operate light-duty motorized equipment, including trucks.
  • Experience in the operation of small equipment, such as weed eaters, lawn mowers, and chain saws.
  • Ability to safely operate a truck and trailer.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Ability to work at heights for prolonged periods.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to adapt to changing circumstances.
