Lexington, Kentucky, United States MIT Lincoln Laboratory Full time

The RF Technology Group develops and demonstrates innovative radio-frequency (RF) technologies that improve the nation's radar, communications, and electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.

Our efforts range from early-stage research into materials and components for RF systems to complete RF system development; therefore, our researchers have expertise in antenna and RF circuit design, digital and embedded systems hardware, software, and firmware, digital signal processing and algorithms, integrated circuit design, printed circuit board (PCB) design, mechanical design, and RF testing.

The group collaboratively interacts with research groups across the Laboratory to take projects from initial concept stage, through simulation and analysis, to design and prototyping, and finally to field demonstration.

Job Description

The RF Technology group seeks a full-time digital design engineer with background and interest in implementation of digital hardware for RF systems.

The candidate will define and contribute to research, development, implementation, and testing of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and related circuitry for next generation RF systems.

Work will include designing, simulating, and testing algorithms and high-speed data acquisition / transmission in FPGAs.

Additionally, the candidate will help define and implement prototypes using state-of-the art digital technology, such as software defined radios and ARM-based system-on-chip devices.

The successful candidate will work hands-on in the laboratory or in the field to lead the operation and testing of prototypes with digital subsystems.

This position includes opportunities to contribute to the development of RF systems, to work with teams of electrical and mechanical engineers, and to design and test related algorithms, hardware, software, and support equipment.

Requirements:

  • Candidate should hold a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field.
