Job Description Summary

Performs all the daily activities of a Pharmacy Technician I in all designated sites, including exceptions, intake and communication and coordination with all parties' necessary ensuring timely shipping and delivery of prescription orders. Performs all basic duties of a pharmacy technician allowable by legal licensure and registration.

Job Description

  • The hours of the position will be between 8am and 7pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Location: 6870 Shadowridge Drive, Suite 111 Orlando, FL 32812
  • Monitors the pharmacy software system queue, and contacts physicians to renew prescriptions proactively.
  • Monitors the authorizations queue and notifies physicians when authorizations have expired, enabling the physicians to request authorizations from the patient`s insurance carrier.
  • Coordinates information about outreach for new prescriptions with appropriate staff and departments who receive the faxes.
  • Utilizes both fax and phone notification to contact physician`s office for the above activities.
  • Responsible for soliciting new business with members of our non-exclusive insurance contracts. Responds to referrals by making calls to try and capture business from members that are patients of other pharmacies.
  • Creates initial drug order in system to start the process flow to be continued by data entry technicians.
  • Enters all required demographic, physician, insurance, authorization, and other information into a profile for all new patients.
  • Reviews all incoming faxed prescription orders and attach to new or existing patient profile.
  • Contacts patient or physician to fill in any missing information.
  • Assigns any non-prescription faxes to appropriate user and notify user of the fax.
  • Assists with maintaining accurate inventory through pulling expirations.
  • Cross trains and assists additional departments based on business needs.
  • Maintains proficiency in all operational departments in core site, excluding support staff as defined by leadership.
  • Attends designated department meetings as scheduled.
  • Manages incoming faxes and referrals, assigning them to appropriate teams.

Responsibilities

  • Must have pharmacy intern license as required by applicable state laws OR:
  • Must have an active pharmacy technician licensure or registration in accordance with state requirements.
  • If state does not require an exam for licensure/registration, must possess both active pharmacy technician licensure or registration in accordance with state requirements AND an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT).
  • In states that do not require licensure or registration, must have an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT).
  • Specialty or retail pharmacy industry experience, previous reimbursement experience, and/or working in a health plan/health care setting.
  • Proficiency in Pharmacy computerized systems and software applications, as well as MS Office Product Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and trouble-shoot problematic issues.
  • Pharmacy technician experience in prescription entry, picking, labeling and preparing medication orders for pharmacist verification.

Potential pay for this position ranges from $ $25.73 based on experience and skills. Pay range may vary by 8% depending on applicant location.
