POSITION SUMMARY:
The Behavioral Health Services Coordinator is part of the Student Support Services department leadership team and takes an active role with oversight and support to the alignments and implementation of the district's health services in the areas of school social work, school psychology, school counseling, and interagency partnerships for school-based services to ensure educational settings are welcoming, safe, and responsive to student needs.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Support the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of behavioral health services and programming to ensure inclusive and least restrictive practices are in place for all students.
- Ensure compliance with district procedures, state, and federal laws and processes of general and related services grades PreK-12 and through age 22.
- Identify areas of need and work to develop and implement programs to address those needs; support and supervise licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Provide data-driven program analysis and development.
- Provide program implementation support; support department and district professional development; is involved with department and community events.
- Foster relationships with families and staff in describing available district programs and create plans and individualized programming supports to assure due process protections and procedural safeguards under IDEA, Section 504, and Minnesota Statutes.
- Assist with licensed staff hiring, onboarding, training development (PD), problem solving and daily oversight and mentoring; provide daily supervision and observation/evaluation support as directed.
- Provide support, training, and modeling of best practices that promote an equitable school experience for all students.
- Coordinate special projects as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services.
- Support and ensure third party billing processes and compliance for health-related services.
- Coordinate the school-based mental health supports to continually improve partnership, referral processes, and communication around services and supports received by students.
- Support the district's Behavioral Health and Risk Assessment processes with training, implementation and program monitoring.
- Support district, buildings, and staff with crises, emergency response needs and follow-up services.
- Participate in and provide support to district, building and community teams on:
- the implementation of mental health and social/emotional best practices within the tiered system of support;
- the impact of mental health within the school; providing evidence-based strategies to support students;
- addressing behavioral and mental health needs in the framework of restorative practices and non-exclusionary discipline practices
- Provide technical support to schools and communities on mental health services, interventions, referrals, programming and concerns.
- Support implementation of department improvement plans.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Support Services.
Required:
- Minnesota Administrative license or school social work, school psychologist, or school counselor license with extensive leadership experience in culturally responsive school mental health and social and emotional learning practices.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of how to access outside/community resources and agencies to support families and staff.
- Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Microsoft Word and due process system.
- Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
- Advancing the District's mission and values through careful attention to the key issues of Learning, Environment and Resources.
- Experience leading special education processes.
- Experience in trauma informed practices.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision.
