Details:

Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) District announces an opportunity to work as a Program Assistant to serve students, faculty, and staff in the Rising Scholars Program (RSP). The RSP team seeks a dedicated, coachable professional and team player willing to learn while putting students first.

Rising Scholars (RS) can earn their Associate Degree for Transfer (AD-T) in Sociology and at some locations Career & Technical Education certifications. This is an innovative program fostering access to education for currently and formerly incarcerated/detained students while emerging as a pillar within the LTCC community.

Students are intelligent and eager to learn - the RSP team is looking for similar qualities in a new team member. Applicants must have the ability to learn quickly, retain information, and maintain a positive attitude. This position will serve a diverse student population while actively embracing anti-racist practices.

Some travel is required to levels 1-4 satellite locations.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
After review, suitable applicants will be invited by phone or email on or around Friday, June 21, 2024 to participate in a skills assessment. Successful candidates will then be interviewed by a committee of approximately 3-5 individuals; these interviews are tentatively scheduled for July 10, 2024. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview. LTCC reserves the right to return to the applicant pool at any point during the recruitment process.

COMPENSATION:
Salary Range: LTCC offers a competitive compensation package that includes a starting placement salary of $40,491 to $44,709annually, dependent on education and experience. There is potential to reach $51,879 annually, through step advancement plus longevity when appropriate. In addition to base salary, this position qualifies for extra bilingual (Spanish), masters or doctorate pay.

Benefits: Health and Welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long term disability. Several plan options maintain a zero monthly premium cost from the employee and include full coverage of a gold-level medical plan that, on average, covers 80% of healthcare expenses for a standard population. LTCC also matches 27% of an eligible employee's salary and contributes it into a CalPERS pension account for qualifying employees.

Work-Life Balance: This position is 40 hours per week and 12 months per year, including summer and winter hours. Hours are expected to be Monday-Friday, generally within the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, hours may vary according to the needs of the program. Some travel will be required to levels 1-4 satellite locations. This position is eligible for overtime compensation (non-exempt). This position may qualify for the telecommute pilot program, which allows employees the opportunity to telecommute for up to 20% of the work week.

LTCC provides a generous leave package including 17 paid holidays per year plus 12 days vacation (with the potential to reach 24 days through years of service) and 12 days sick leave per year. Furthermore, LTCC has made a commitment to full closures during holiday breaks and several weekends adjoining holidays to provide employees the ability to take advantage of holiday and vacation usage.

Gather, compile and collate statistical information and other data; organize, establish and maintain record keeping systems for correspondence, documents, materials and other various data needs; record and log incoming information and follow up on missing or incomplete information; schedule appointments and meetings for supervisor; determine date and time and reschedule as necessary.

Send correspondence on behalf of the supervisor; receive and screen telephone calls and visitors; advise customers by answering questions or providing information; refer individuals to appropriate personnel as required; take and distribute messages; perform general clerical duties; type materials; compose flyers; perform data entry; order and maintain supplies; prepare purchase requisitions; monitor expenditures for department; collect appropriate fees and prepare accounting records.

Accept and process forms, applications and general information requested by individuals; interact with faculty, staff, students and the public; interpret and provide technical guidance on regulations specific to assigned program(s); provide information on policies and procedures of department/work unit activities; handle personnel or administrative forms such as payroll timesheets for office department and forward for processing; may provide direction and oversees work of work study students; compose correspondence; copy, mail, fax and distribute materials; receive, open and distribute mail.
