Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Student Retention Specialist to join our team at Lake Tahoe Community College. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Director of the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Grant to facilitate student success by coordinating student support services and acting as a primary resource for assigned student cohorts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate student support services to ensure students stay on their educational pathway
  • Act as a primary resource for assigned student cohorts, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Regularly connect with students within the assigned cohort to monitor progress and provide support
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of resources for students (academic and non-academic) and connect individual students with appropriate resources when needed
  • Track, summarize, and report persistence and success data related to assigned student cohorts
  • Prepare presentation materials related to program and student outcomes
  • Collaborate with the HSI STEM Student Success Team to ensure effective student support services
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a related field and two years of experience working in an educational setting supporting programs or services
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, and techniques involved in the development and implementation of designated functions and services of an assigned program
  • Ability to perform a variety of specialized duties in the development and implementation of designated functions and services in support of an assigned program
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds, and disabilities of community college students and staff
Working Environment

This position is an indoor and outdoor environment with constant interruptions.
