Main Purpose of Job

\r
\r
The main purpose of this position is to serve as the Division Chief of the Drinking Water\r
Policy Division, the incumbent will be responsible for Natural Resources Planners\r
and other technical staff to resolve drinking water policy questions for the State of\r
Maryland. This Division will focus on pollutants that are not fully regulated under the Safe\r
Drinking Water Act, as well as on water supply resiliency questions, including potable reuse. The\r
incumbent will also manage the Transient Non-Community Water System (TNC) oversight program\r
for Maryland, conducting sanitary surveys, preparing technical reports, and providing technical assistance to more than 2,000 public water systems directly regulated by the State.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

\r
EDUCATION: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college\r
or university that includes 30 credits in the biological, environmental,\r
physical sciences, other appropriate technical discipline, or possession of a\r
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Law\r
or Environmental Public Policy or other appropriate related degree.\r
�\r
EXPERIENCE: Five years of experience supervising a professional staff in\r
an environmental field or experience as an environmental project manager\r
including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and reviewing work products.\r
�\r
NOTES: (1) Professional or scientific experience related to natural\r
resources, environment or public health may be substituted on a year-for-year\r
basis for education. (2) One additional year of experience in professional\r
scientific, natural resources, or environmental or public health may be\r
substituted for the 30 specialized academic credits.\r
\r
