Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.


THE ROLE


Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Security team owns the operational security of the constellation end-to-end.

We provide the necessary infrastructure to establish secure communications and strong authentication, enabling the confidentiality for our customers and security for our constellation.


The Kuiper Security team drives the research & development, deployment and operations of several mission-critical security systems for the Kuiper constellation end-to-end.

You will work in a start-up like culture to help instill the security culture in the organization more broadly.

This role is at the forefront of delivering highly secure space and terrestrial broadband telecommunication services for consumer, enterprise, telecom, transportation and government customers around the world.


The Technical Program Manager in Project Kuiper's Security: Operations and Systems team will drive the operations and development of systems to support the proactive and operational security of Kuiper.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on security expert who thrives in the face of ambiguity, and has a proven track record of delivering high-impact cross-functional goals.

In this role, they will establish and lead programs preventing unauthorized access to Kuiper assets and resources, identifying and mitigating threats, translating customer needs into technical requirements, maintaining compliance with global regulatory and legal regimes, preventing malicious or fraudulent behavior, and more.


The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, ranging from hardware, through front-end UIs through to back-end systems and all points in between.

They will have material software design and implementation experience, strong knowledge of data networking and understand modern operating systems.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create controls and mechanisms to drive adoption and iterative improvement of security capabilities throughout Kuiper's technology and infrastructure.
  • Drive and evangelize the adoption of mechanisms to reduce the cost to build secure systems in Kuiper.
  • Identify functional and technical security requirements by partnering with product, engineering and other Amazon internal security teams.
  • Influence security through operational best practices with the Kuiper business and engineering teams.
  • Drive execution and maintain alignment through creating program management structure and engagement with engineers, and leadership.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering
  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multimillion dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
