Amazon Games is looking for a Art Director to partner with us as we build exciting new multiplayer games that everyone can enjoy.

You will help us establish an entirely new category for gaming and should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that's higher than most projects.

In this role, you'll lead thinking on what kind of great games will be best for all kinds of players.

You will assess the quality of content, help game development teams create distinct art styles for Amazon customers, and evaluate overall user experience.

The opportunity to delight millions of gamers is massive, but it's also an ambiguous challenge.

Art Directors at Amazon Games excel at visual communication; they are masters at all practical aspects of messaging an idea using images.

They have experience in building wildly inventive and successful games, and are excited to shape the future of art in games and games as an art form.

You'll work with world-class third-party game developers to assess and design great exclusive content.

You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and will collaborate with engineering, marketing, and other stakeholders to resolve ambiguity and balance competing priorities.

This is a unique opportunity to partner with game development teams to strengthen and enrich art direction, worlds and characters designs.

Key job responsibilities

  • Provide creative vision and guidance on elements that shape the overall style of games and gameplay across characters, environments, items, equipment or gear – as well campaign creative for related marketing materials
  • Be part of a multi-disciplinary brain that works primarily with external developers to guide Amazon thinking
  • Translate stakeholder feedback into clear visual directions for external agencies and developing partners
  • Help raise and set new standards for the highest-quality execution of in-game art for our games at key moments of their development cycles
  • Be able to take the high strategic view as well as dive deep and execute great game art to lead by example
  • Provide direction on concept art to be adapted and thoughtfully carried across OOH, Social & Digital in a 360-campaign approach
  • Evaluate challenges to effectively communicate and/or escalate guidelines, accountability and resolution progress to partners and leadership
  • Leverage data-driven customer insights and deep knowledge of formats and placements to make creative decisions
  • Remain up to date with products and services across the game industry, and also within Amazon, Twitch, and Amazon Game Studios.

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of Games or Interactive Entertainment industry experience, launching games for wide audiences, casual and core

  • Expertise in game development toolset and pipelines
  • Experience working with third-party developers to build great content
  • Experience creating and documenting high-quality visual guidelines and development strategies
  • Has shipped games across a variety of platforms on time and on budget
  • A portfolio that demonstrates process and capabilities in crafting compelling game visuals
  • Experience communicating with customers, technical teams, and management to collect requirements and describe products
Preferred Qualifications
Experience presenting to all levels – from senior to executive

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience creating end-to-end game experiences from the concept stage to shipping
  • Experience working with third-party IPs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience collaborating across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience working with digital asset management tools and leading process improvements
  • Experience building games in a wide variety of genres, for a variety of platforms, including PC and console.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $91,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $196,000/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
