Physical Requirements

Sitting/standing at bench and tissue culture hood for extended amounts of time. Walking to nearby buildings to use certain core facilities. Repetitive motion.

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Job Summary


A full-time laboratory technician position is available at the University of Kentucky Radiation Medicine to study the molecular mechanisms that determine the impact of obesity on cancer development.

The current project will define how obesity impact tumor growth and response to treatment.

This position will have a fully on-site work arrangement.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities


Lab safety, organizational ability, familiarity with Microsoft Excel, ability to work well with others, punctuality, reliability, and responsibility, molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culture techniques.

Preferred Education/Experience

BS or MS in biomedical or life sciences preferred.

Research experience in cancer biology, specifically related to cell cultures, protein and DNA/RNA extraction and analysis, viability and cell death assays, and microscopic imaging; ability and knowledge of expanding and using in vivo mouse models; ability to keep accurate and comprehensive notes on research and findings preferred.
