Position Overview:An exciting opportunity exists for a paid part-time laboratory technician role within the field of Molecular Biology, aimed at students or recent graduates eager to gain hands-on experience in molecular, cellular, or neuronal biological methodologies. Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree, with previous experimental exposure or a background in biology or pre-med being advantageous.
The research conducted in this laboratory focuses on several critical areas, including:
- The influence of glial cells on neural circuits in the context of neurodegenerative conditions.
- The impact of glial cells on neuronal metabolism and diabetes.
- The function of glial cells in dopaminergic circuits and their relation to motivational behaviors.
Participants will engage with advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques, including but not limited to cloning, RT-PCR, Western Blots, cell culture, RNA sequencing, and surgical procedures on brain tissue.
Flexible working hours will be established following an initial training phase, with an expected commitment of at least one year to ensure the collection of high-quality data and contribute to the publication of research findings.Required Skills:
Proficiency in MS Windows and Microsoft Office, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to adhere to instructions.
Supervisory Duties:This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Preferred Background:Students majoring in premed or biology are preferred.
