Job Description:


The SUNY Grants for Research, Opportunity, and Workforce (GROW) Support Unit will provide direct support to all SUNY campuses in identifying and securing grant and contract funding from federal, state, local and other sources to support research and scholarship, with a specific focus on activities that will expand economic mobility and create workforce opportunity for New Yorkers.


The SUNY GROW Support Unit Grants and Project Manager plays a critical role in identifying, pursuing, and securing grant funding to support the organization's mission and initiatives.

This position also oversees multiple cross-functional projects from inception to completion, requiring a candidate that is a resourceful, detail oriented, and collaborative team member with excellent project and people management skills.



Responsibilities:


Identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
Attend webinars and trainings and report findings back to GROW Director.
Write compelling grant proposals and applications that effectively communicate the organization's goals and funding needs.
Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and data for proposals and projects.

Guide faculty researchers in developing the necessary content for grant applications on time by answering questions, reviewing language, interpreting requirements, and advocating for their needs.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing grantors and funding organizations.
Motivate and inspire campus leaders to achieve objectives by facilitating discussions and developing relationships.
Seek new funding opportunities by networking and attending relevant events, conferences, and meetings.
Monitor and ensure compliance with grant requirements, reporting deadlines, and budgetary restrictions with appropriate offices.
Develop and format grant budgets, narratives, and other supporting application documents as needed.
Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
Develop a long-term grant acquisition strategy aligned with SUNY's goals and needs.

Oversees and coordinates multiple grant projects across the organization, from inception to completion, to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner.

Leads the planning and implementation of cross-functional projects, including:
Facilitating definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Defining project tasks and resource requirements.
Tracking project deliverables using appropriate tools.
Managing day-to-day operational aspect of a project.

Conducting and facilitating regular project status meetings, communicates updates, and providing timely reports to stakeholders, including project status, issues, risks, and resolutions.


Anticipated breakout of duties:
Project management: 35%

Grant development: 35%

Sponsor outreach: 15%

Liaising with campuses: 15%



Requirements:



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years of experience (e.g., nonprofit management, public administration, communications, or in the field of science, technology or engineering).

Personal and professional integrity that communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start.
Proven experience in grant writing and development, preferably in a nonprofit or similar setting.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Prior experience in a project management role, handling multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, utilizing project management tools and methods for planning and implementation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field.
Certification in grant writing or nonprofit management.
Project Management Professional certification.
Experience with online grant application portals, databases, and grant management software.

Salary Range- The compensation for this role is between $85,000 to $99,000.

The pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.
