General Statement
We are seeking candidates with a solid entrepreneurial and collaborative design ability to contribute to the innovation and practice of architecture. Candidates are expected to be able to introduce students to the sociological complexity of urban/rural environments and develop their skills for conceptualizing architecture within a range of contexts, from Metropolitan areas to the towns of the Mountain West. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to extend the School's community partnerships and exhibit promise in obtaining funding, preferably external. Teaching responsibilities include all levels of design studio (including community design projects) in addition to one or more courses such as history, theory, building construction, materials, computation, environmental systems, and/or practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
We hope to attract applicants who can teach in a diverse University community and have demonstrated ability in helping students from diverse backgrounds to succeed.
Teach on-campus in person.
Advise, evaluate, and assist students.
Innovative curriculum and/or course development.
Participate in faculty meetings and service assignments.
Meet regularly with, collaborating with, and supporting multi-section teaching and learning objectives.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
A terminal degree in architecture (MArch I/II, D Des, or PhD) or a related field (MS or PhD)
Professional architectural licensure (NCARB recognized). Candidates with demonstrated progress toward registration will be considered. However, completion of registration is required before application for tenure.
Note: In exceptional circumstances, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Four or more years of professional practice in the design of a variety of project types 2
Three or more years of professional teaching experience in higher education
Demonstrated interdisciplinary collaboration
Evidence of the ability to obtain external funding
Demonstrated expertise in architectural design
Scholarship in the field of design
The ability to teach advanced design studio, lecture, and seminar courses

As a land-grant institution located in the heart of the Greater Yellowstone ecological system and the Rocky Mountains, the School of Architecture and Montana State University are internationally recognized for research and creative activity drawn from the social, cultural, and environmental conditions of the western landscape.

The School of Architecture offers a four-year pre-professional undergraduate program leading to a one-and-a-half year professional Master of Architecture degree fully accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). The program has approximately 400 undergraduate and 80 graduate students. In addition, the school has a strong connection with alumni to help students transition into the profession,

The College
The College of Arts & Architecture is home to distinctive academic programs within the Schools of Art, Architecture, Music and Film & Photography.
