Boston, Massachusetts, United States Hometap Full time

Here at Hometap, we're collaborative, passionate, and always ready to roll up our sleeves to create solutions that help people get more out of homeownership — and out of life. Our first product, a home equity investment, gives homeowners the opportunity to quickly access the equity they've built in their home to pay for what's most important to them, from handling debt to finally making much-needed renovations, without taking on debt.

We work hard, and have some fun along the way, too. You don't have to take our word for it: The Boston Globe and Forbes have recognized us as a great place to work, and we've been honored for our commitment to innovation in the fintech space by Inc., HousingWire, and more

In case you need any more convincing, we also provide competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, unlimited PTO, a generous share package, and a strong culture with plenty of opportunities for team-building and camaraderie.

Interested in joining us on our mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible? We'd love to talk.

We are looking for a CFO to join our dynamic leadership team. This executive role will report directly to the CEO and will drive our business and financial strategy, overseeing all aspects of financial management. This position will be a good fit for a sophisticated and deal-oriented CFO who has deep capital management experience and is fluent in deal-making. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to make an enormous impact as the business expands, helping us improve the speed and quality of critical business decisions.

Who you are:

With more than one billion dollars deployed to U.S. homeowners, Hometap is growing ever more sophisticated and mature. We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to join us and evolve our finance functions as the business grows increasingly complex. The ideal candidate brings deep capital management experience, an operator's mindset, and a thoughtful approach to scaling.

As Hometap's CFO, you will oversee all traditional corporate finance functions including FP&A, tax, planning, budgeting, and the like, while also providing leadership and vision to the elements of the role that are specific to Hometap. These include developing and actioning strategies related to asset capital management and allocation, and securitization opportunities. To be successful, you'll help us build financial and business strategies that support our ambitious goals alongside our legal and social responsibilities.

The financial function at Hometap consists of distinct categories for which you will have meaningful responsibilities.

General Corporate – You will lead all general corporate financial matters at Hometap, including our strategic finance and operational finance teams. Examples include board meeting preparation, strategic FP&A, budgeting/budget planning, cap table management, investor communications, treasury functions, tax, HR support, and potentially IPO readiness.

Capital Management – Funding of our home equity investment products comes from sophisticated asset backed debt and equity investors. As we grow we will raise several billion dollars over the coming years, as well as productize our securitization platform. As CFO, you'll oversee our existing investment funds, asset pools, and credit facilities as well as explore new structures and sources of capital as we scale. You will drive capital strategy, deal negotiation, fund/entity formation, capital operations, and cultivate strong relationships with our investor base.

What you'll do:

  • Provide leadership to Hometap and our finance team
  • Drive financing and capital-raising processes that will create business value and strategic differentiation
  • Develop strong relationships with our capital partners and investors
  • Act as a trusted advisor within the business to the CEO and leadership team
  • Bring a thoughtful point of view on the future of the organization, business and competitive landscape
  • Oversee crisp execution across our finance functions, including board material prep, long-term strategic financial planning, FP&A, audits, payroll and accounting, tax, etc.

What you bring:

  • Deep experience in capital management, financial services, and investor relations
  • Demonstrated bias for action – highly accountable, with experience in an operational environment
  • Intellectual curiosity – you think critically and creatively about both current and possible opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills, as well as a desire to collaborate, build rapport, add value, and effectively problem-solve with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic-minded and analytical, with the ability to understand all aspects of our business and drive strategy
  • Proven business acumen and clear comprehension of the legal, regulatory, and financial elements of the business
  • Collaborative problem solving to drive optimal decisions for the business – you are agile, decisive, and comfortable with change
  • Experienced financial leader having previously managed the finance function and team
  • Direct experience in the consumer home financing or related space is a major plus
  • Preference for candidate who lives in the Greater Boston area or could be in Boston 2x/month
