Network Services Engineer

We are looking for a Python developer who knows networking. This person should be from a network background who has experience with automating infrastructure.

Technical/Functional Skills

Python; PythonPrometheus; Git (GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket, SVN); ELK Stack (Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana)?; Unix; RedHat Linux; VMWare, API development.

Must be willing to work on-call shifts nights and weekends.

Location: Durham, North Carolina (hybrid position, work 3 days in office and 2 days remote),

Responsibilities

  • Conduct network engineering duties as assigned for the global network and firewall security.
  • Create and maintain automation to manage network components and services.
  • Assist in providing and maintaining an automated incident recovery automation solutions at scale to support the needs of the network team supporting the global and campus networks.
  • Perform on call responsibilities for the global network team. Rotating shifts include evenings, nights and weekends.
  • You will be working with an outstanding team of highly skilled network engineers that are responsible for the network on a 24x7 basis.
  • Collaborate closely with the Network teams to understand incident scenarios and create targeted recovery automation.
  • Implement intelligent algorithms and logic to automate decision-making.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of automation to ensure reliability and effectiveness.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of automation, making continuous improvements for efficiency.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance automation capabilities.
  • Provide technical support and training to the Network teams for utilizing and maintaining automated solutions.
  • Foster collaboration between Network Operations engineers and various development teams to enhance overall system performance and availability relative to network automation platforms.

Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years proven experience with monitoring solutions like Solarwinds, ManageEngine, Thanos/Prometheus, etc.
  • Solid Python Programing experience (API, database backend).
  • Experience with React, Angular, or NodeJS.
  • Experience with GIT, GitLab, or GitHub.
  • Familiar with CI/CD concepts and best practices,
  • Hands-on experience as a Unix/Linux Engineer and/or Administrator.
  • Excellent understanding of Infrastructure, Virtualization, Containers, Network, Storage, monitoring tools, Logging analytic tools, Firewalls & Security policies, multi- and hybrid cloud.
  • Good knowledge on Containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, Elastic Stack, Kafka, NGINX, Redis
  • Experience supporting a 24/7 with on-call responsibilities for production support.
  • Self-motivated with strong development skills and the ability to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to handle complex scenarios, multiple tasks, challenging priorities and set schedule to meet deliverables with positive attitude and flexibility.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate as a member of a team, and build strong working relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external technology teams.
  • Strong analytical, qualitative skills.
  • Additionally, you should stay updated with the latest developments technologies to bring best practices and innovative solutions to the projects
  • Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a passion for learning will be valuable assets in this role.
