Purpose

The Outreach and Training Coordinator will be responsible for creating clear user guides, delivering effective training, and offering support for research applications; coordinating outreach activities; and producing content to keep users informed and engaged.

Responsibilities
  • Documentation:Plans, develops, and refines user manuals, job aids, video content, help text, and digital adoption platform walkthroughs to assist users during implementation and sustainment of research applications developed or managed by the Office of the Vice President for Research. Regularly updates and edits documentation as needed or in preparation for upgrades and uploads content to the web resource library. Recommends and implements improvements to material format and content to enhance consistency, clarity, engagement, accessibility, and sustainability.
  • Training:Designs, coordinates, and conducts testing and training sessions for research community members, faculty, and staff across various University departments during implementation periods. Supports the ongoing training needs of central office users. Oversees related outreach activities, including project events. Engages users with different needs and learning styles in all the above.
  • Support:Provides user support for research applications, primarily through help ticket requests. Assists with special projects as needed and performs additional duties as requested.
  • Outreach:Coordinates outreach activities and creates supporting materials, such as promotional items. Develops and manages content for the project newsletter. Participates in professional development opportunities and campus community organizations.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, or another related field.
  • Experience:Six or more years of experience in training, instructional design, or a related role. Experience with software development or implementation, research administration, is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively deliver training and interact with a wide audience.
    • Organization: Excellent organizational skills to manage training schedules, materials, and documentation.
    • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with business software and tools, such as presentation software, and video conferencing platforms.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve issues related to training and user support, applying independent decision-making and critical thought.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage with participants, understand their learning needs, and adapt training methods accordingly.
    • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in training materials and documentation.
    • Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing needs and priorities in a dynamic work environment.
    • Service: Customer-oriented approach to service delivery.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Experience with software development or implementation, research administration, is preferred.
  • Preferred proficiencies:
    • Previous experience with Huron Research Suite and/or other research administration platforms and tools
    • Advanced use of Microsoft Office family of products
    • Collaboration and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello)
    • eLearning Authoring and related content creation tools (Articulate family, Canva, Camtasia, etc.)
    • Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, or Cornerstone)
    • Digital Adoption Platforms (e.g., Inline Manual, WalkMe)
    • Service Management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, FootPrints)
    • Survey and data analysis tools
Salary Range

$62,000 + depending on qualifications
