As a Attorney-Advisor (General), GS /15, your typical work assignments may include:

Providing legal advice to the DHS Office of Program Accountability and Risk Management (PARM); DHS Office of the Chief Procurement Officer (OCPO), Acquisition Policy and Legislation (APL); the DHS Suspension and Debarment Official; and other DHS Senior leadership on acquisition management, policy, and suspension and debarment matters.

While advising DHS PARM, reviewing PARM documents, drafting acquisition legislation, regulations, and policy documents, providing drafting assistance and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Working on behalf of the DHS Chief Acquisition Officer, PARM is the executive agent for DHS acquisition programs and is responsible for managing DHS-wide acquisition program policy, governance, and oversight.

The primary policies that will be referenced are the DHS Directive and DHS Instruction , Acquisition Management and its associated policies.

In this context, the term acquisition is not equivalent to procurement.

While advising DHS OCPO, APL, reviewing draft acquisition and procurement legislation, regulations and policy documents, providing drafting assistance and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Interfacing with senior DHS and other government officials including the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB), reviewing documentation and providing legal advice/responses on the subject matter.

Preparing senior OGC staff for participation in the Acquisition Review Board process and other business process meetings for major acquisition programs of DHS and its components.
