Within International Services, Global Governance and Risk ("GG&R") is a 1st Line of Defense Business Unit Risk team responsible for effectively managing risk through scalable governance routines, transparent policy management and control design to support growth of Schwab's international cross border business model. The International Policy team is responsible for developing and executing policies accounting for applicable U.S. and foreign regulatory rules/requirements and management of the end-to-end policy lifecycle management process.

This Manager role will report to the Sr. Manager of the International Policy team. The Manager position is a strategic role and is responsible for management and execution of our various business policies. The ability to build and foster relationships across the firm, think critically, and communicate complex ideas with clarity will be imperative to the success of this role. The Manager position will work most closely with teams within the International Services business and with our international Legal and Compliance partners.

Key responsibilities:

  • Development of new or updated policies, inclusive of leading the supporting change management processes by coordinating with key business partners and stakeholders across the broader Schwab enterprise.
  • Assess impact from Corporate Risk and Business policies (1LOD-/2LOD-owned) and liaise across organization and other impacted business partners on effecting changes.
  • Supporting projects to implement regulatory/risk initiatives related to international clients through engagement with multiple corporate oversight groups including Legal, Compliance, and Financial Crimes.
  • Supporting business development opportunities through close partnership with the Global Business Products & Experience team.
  • Coordination and presentation of policy exceptions to business oversight review committees.
What you have

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of financial services experience
  • Experience writing policies, procedures, or other business procedure related documents
  • Excellent intrapersonal and relationship building skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a complex, dynamic, and ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, professionalism, flexibility, and capacity to manage yourself and make things happen
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize, and complete them within established deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active and valid Series 7 & 63 are preferred
  • Experience in risk management and/or risk management supporting international business is strongly preferred
  • Current or previous background in International Business
