The Software/Firmware Test Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and execution of test protocols in Biochip organization - engineering department. you will use your strong technical background to work with product management and engineering to define test strategies, organize testing processes, and optimize system level testing through creative and comprehensive test methods. Applies analytical skills and independent judgement in resolving software issues in coordination with software engineers.


This position is part of the Biochip R&D Team and will be a hybrid role located in Sunnyvale, CA location. Intellectual honesty and agility, with the ability to pivot based on shifting priorities and balance multiple projects seamlessly in a fast-paced environment, are key.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work closely with software development team and Embedded Systems development teams to understand product requirements and to create corresponding test plan, test designs\test protocols, test scripts and build test strategies for the project.
  • Assist product owners and Development teams in refining the requirements and specifications.
  • Design, develop and execute functional test cases, according to standard operating procedures. Record, report and verify software defects in defect tracking tool.
  • Collaborative with the software development team to review test cases for completeness.
  • Communicate the test status, issues to the team. Continuously improves process and work methodologies by collaborating with peers/multi-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or Master ́s degree in STEM, Biomedical Engineering, BioEngineering, or Computer Science with 3+ years' software testing experience in developing test plans, traceability matrixes, test cases, test scripts and test protocols.
  • Professional experience with Agile methodologies and at least 2+ years of applying it to provide technical guidance to the team.
  • Good understanding Test management tools and defect tracking systems and Ability to understand functional/technical specifications.
  • Possess excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, must be self-motivated, willing to learn new concepts, technologies and products quickly.
  • Experience in executing and developing automated test suites for performance Testing.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience working in fast-paced environments and successfully working on multiple products simultaneously as test engineer on a complete software system.
  • Experience with testing medical devices is plus.

The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $135,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
