Sheridan School, an independent K-8 school in Washington, D.C., is seeking an Admissions
and Advancement Associate starting in mid-August, 2024.

Reporting to the Director of Advancement and the Director of Enrollment Management, the
Admissions and Advancement Associate will assist both departments with program and event
support, database management, and other general support. Sheridan relies on its relationships
with internal and external community members to further its mission, and this role will contribute to the success of these departments and to the school at large.

Founded in 1927, Sheridan is a progressive school with no more than 230 students, a vibrant,

The individual who fills this role will:

  • Coordinate database and records management, including (but not limited to) gift entry
    and acknowledgment, maintaining data accuracy in both departments' systems, daily
    monitoring of and response to admissions inquiries, and more;
  • Manage all aspects of event planning for both departments, including coordination with
    school facilities team and outside vendors for all online event registration, catering
    requests and room reservations;
  • Provide logistical support for various events and programs outside these two
    departments as needed;
  • Serve as liaison to the Parents Association (PA) and assist in their activities from events,
    to communications and other activities as they arise;
  • Support the admissions department by attending school recruitment fairs off-campus as
    well as open house events on campus (including occasional evenings and weekends);
  • Support, assist, or manage any in-house mailings or emails that are sent to the Sheridan
    community;
  • Attend conferences and professional meetings to remain current with industry trends;
  • Participate in committee, division, and staff meetings as well as school-sponsored
    events that would benefit from your area of expertise;
  • Be involved in the school community at large;
  • Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Directors of Admissions and
    Advancement. The ideal candidate:

    • Has formal experience and a successful track record in outward-facing engagement;
    • Possesses superior organizational, time management, and prioritization skills;
    • Is committed to diversity, equity, justice, inclusion, and belonging;
    • Has an interest in ongoing professional development and school management in the
      areas of admissions, development, fundraising, public relations/marketing, and/or
      independent education; previous experience preferred.

      Specific skills and abilities include the following:
    • Integrity, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality; previous experience
      with managing highly sensitive personal and financial information preferred;
    • Database management, ideally with school-specific databases such as Blackbaud
      (student information) Blackbaud Raiser's Edge (donor management), Ravenna
      (admissions), and TADS (enrollment and tuition);
    • Excellent attention to accuracy and detail;
    • Proficiency in GSuite for Schools / Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PPT);
    • Exceptional skills in customer relations (in-person, on the phone, and online);
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills;
    • Ability to work independently and to make good decisions;
    • At least two years' experience in a non-profit organization.
