The Role

Join Modernas Manufacturing Science and Technology (MST) team as a Sr. Engineer I, External DS MS&T (Chemistry), where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the robust production of custom small molecules (lipids and nucleotides) at CMOs in the USA and Europe. In this new role, you will support our groundbreaking mRNA platform, contributing to both Clinical and Commercial cGMP Manufacturing. Collaborate with internal teams and CMOs to navigate the complexities of technology transfer and technical support, ensuring flawless execution and maintenance of our high standards. Heres What Youll Do Support technology transfer activities for clinical/commercial products into CMOs. Provide technical support of cGMP manufacturing at CMOs, including authoring technology transfer documents, supporting change controls, deviations, and closing manufacturing investigations. Analyze manufacturing performance through data review and analyses, authoring manufacturing summary reports, and establishing and maintaining data repositories. Lead cross-functional troubleshooting and operational improvements for manufacturing processes and equipment. Author and execute protocols supporting process characterization and equipment scale-up in cGMP Manufacturing. Maintain alignment with other global manufacturing sites through shared knowledge, manufacturing data, issues, and common solutions. Heres What Youll Need (Basic Qualifications)Education: Chemical engineer, Pharmaceutical engineer, Biochemical engineer, or Chemistry science degree or Advanced degree preferred (MS, Ph.D.)Experience: > 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical or biotechnology industry. Demonstrated experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in a regulated environment, ensuring compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements. This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Modernas site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
