The John Cooper School is seeking an Administrative Assistant to the Lower School Head. This position supports and reports to the Lower School Head and functions as a member of the support staff. Qualified candidates will possess well-developed communication and organizational skills whether in person, via phone, or in writing as well as strong computer/technology skills including those listed below. The candidate must be well organized and have the ability to balance a variety of demands. In addition, qualified candidates must be dedicated to the confidentiality and appropriate management of information for the Lower School students, parents, faculty, staff, and Head.

Responsibilities are performed in keeping with the mission of the school as stated in the John Cooper School Employee Handbook. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining calendars; scheduling internal and external meetings; processing and maintaining written records, student files and report cards; and coordinating activities among divisions or other school offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs administrative and secretarial duties for the Lower School Head and other Lower School employees; Maintains appointment calendar for Lower School Head, resolving conflicts as required; Maintains the master Lower School calendar; meets with administrators to confirm accuracy of activities and meetings; Composes weekly Lower School newsletter and distributes electronically to members of school community; Handles inquiries from parents, students, faculty and staff as appropriate; Ability to utilize student information system; Primary support for Lower School parent volunteer programs; Basic technology support for divisional faculty and staff; Manages and organizes the supply orders for the division; Monthly credit card account reconciliation; Provides administrative support on other projects as required; This is a year-round position Job Requirements:High School diploma or GED Proficiency with Microsoft Office software Willingness and ability to learn technology on demand Administrative experience Professional training preferred Experience in a school preferred
