This role is located in Oakland, CA. Remote and on-site at our Jack London Square, Water Street headquarters.
We're a young, fast growing company and you are passionate and excited to help grow our endurance community. This is an incredible opportunity to build our collection of events and brands from the start line; you'll be the all-star liaison between Mascot and its growing athlete base, deploying the very best marketing, field outreach and social media management practices to relay our story to the world.
This role is content-heavy; you should be just as comfortable workshopping copy as you are with planning a social media calendar, designing rockstar content, or working together with influencers and local clubs. Your other responsibilities will be pretty varied; on any given day, you might be hyping up our events, attending a local running club event, or launching and staffing a promotional event. You'll work closely with the Mascot team and have the opportunity to make a real impact. Creativity is a must; you should have big ideas about what an ideal event and brand looks like, with the strategies to make it happen.
Position Summary:Mascot creates positive, tangible change in race communities by engaging athletes and volunteers to participate in programs that demonstrate service through sport and commitment to community.
Mascot is seeking an enthusiastic, and creative Marketing and PR executive to support the overall marketing and communications strategies for all Mascot programs.

This position will take a lead role in planning and executing all aspects of Mascot's marketing plans. The ideal candidate for this role possesses strong organizational skills, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. This role champions dynamic and creative individuals who can prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Objectives of this Role:
  • Assist in developing and implementing the company's brand strategy.
  • Ensure that all marketing efforts serve immediate and long-term business goals by identifying and executing improvements for processes, content, and lead generation.
  • Prepare marketing activity reports and metrics for program success.
  • Compile market research, competitor analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal tools, including social media planning and posting, email marketing schedule and practices, website host, and more.
  • Build knowledge and education regularly through workshops, research, and seminars, and share best practices and local marketing tactics with team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Play a leading role for the team in planning and execution of marketing plan details for all events, community outreach and fundraising campaigns.
  • Support Mascot clients and operations teams in establishing and evaluating marketing strategy by setting objectives, organizing promotional materials, and updating calendars for all Mascot programs.
  • Work closely with Mascot Marketing, Athlete Services, Creative Services, Brand and Digital teams in all aspects of the Mascot marketing efforts.
  • Manage the relationship and communication between all Mascot clients and partners across the globe.
  • Maintain knowledge of market research and trends to identify new marketing opportunities.
  • Promoting Mascot's brand awareness through marketing efforts.
  • Responsible for creating and managing website content, social media posts, email campaigns and content, donor and athlete communications.
  • Responsible for maintenance of marketing database.
  • Coordinate the development of campaign assets and oversee the trafficking of them to internal and / or external resources for campaign execution.
  • Take the lead in coordinating activity in markets to help build and foster community relationships within assigned event communities.
  • Support in the execution of market events, as necessary.
  • Conduct research of market trends, customer behavior, and competitor landscape.
  • Communicate campaign objectives, timelines, and deliverables to the team, and provide instructions for usage and promotion.
  • Maintain inventory of marketing materials, ensuring all are current and accurate, and coordinate the creation of new materials when necessary.
  • Continually seek new sources of prospective customer data and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Work from the Oakland Mascot office a minimum of two-days a week, determined by management.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years marketing or public relations experience
  • 3-5 years experience with/or exposure to digital marketing including social media, website management, and email marketing platforms; graphic design experience is a plus
  • Excellent strategic and analytical thinking capability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Superior time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to adapt and execute in a timely manner
  • Possess a goal-oriented approach, with the desire and capability to track activities to business metrics and an overall plan. The successful candidate has a demonstrated desire to conceptualize, execute, and report on complex integrated marketing programs
  • A passion for endurance sports and an active lifestyle is a plus
  • Working knowledge of full Microsoft Suite, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Ability to travel 15-20% of the year
