Study Skills Teacher

We invite you to join our team in making this mission a reality for our students as a faculty member teaching Study Skills starting in the school year . Study Skills is a unique small group, fee-based, elective class. Students receive support for executive functioning as well as additional content support. Study Skills are taught in the context of the content curriculum from students' core academic courses. More information about our Learning Support program can be found on our SAAS webpage .

Experience in special education, academic coaching, small group instruction, executive functioning and/or study skills instruction is considered a plus. A Bachelor's degree is required. Review the Seattle Academy Faculty Salary Structure for a starting salary range.

As a part of the application process, applicants are asked to provide an artifact of your work. For the position of Study Skills Teacher an artifact may include but is not limited to; a description of a support plan, examples of family communications, presentations, lesson plans, etc.

  • A growth mindset with a passion for learning and comfort in working with a broad range of academic subjects in an engaging learning environment
  • Experience and enthusiasm in working with a diverse population of adolescents (experience with learning, emotional/behavioral, or attentional challenges preferred)
  • A desire to help students find personal and academic success
  • Willingness to incorporate social-emotional learning competencies (social awareness, relationship skills, self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making) into the subject matter
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities
  • Agility, influence, negotiation, and strong judgment & decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all constituent groups - teachers, parents, students, and administration teams
  • Experience with addressing student behavior
  • Creative and imaginative problem-solving skills
