Primary Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end ownership of assigned initiatives, which may take the form of: Project/program management, Major Business Objectives (MBO's), or Operational Readiness assignments
  • Act as a Cross-Functional liaison between Technology and Operations to bridge gaps and understanding of processes
  • Utilize solid analysis skills to interpret business requirements into Rules, identify missing data needs, and partner with Technology to have the system updated with the new data points
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology, including configuration of business rules into the rules engine
  • Create, use, and maintain tools and templates (and create new where/when necessary) commonly used for: Project/work plans, status and operational reporting, issue/risk tracking, operational impact analysis, capital planning, testing, requirement documentation, capability mapping, process flows and other
  • Adapt initiative plans and priorities to address business, technical, and operational challenges
  • Provide guidance, expertise, and assistance to internal and external partners, to ensure that projects, programs, and strategies are implemented and maintained effectively
  • Oversee, and engage as appropriate, cross-functional discussions with Subject Matter Experts from various business segments, creating initiative strategies to support process handoffs between functional areas
  • Ability to troubleshoot defects and incidents and facilitate resolution between Technology and Business Partners
  • Work with other members of the leadership team to develop strategic priorities in relation to business goals, including tactical plans to achieve those goals
  • Serve as a key leadership resource for assessing and understanding complex and/or critical operational issues
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on work performed/created by matrixed team members
  • Function effectively in fast-paced, multi-project environment with shifting priorities
  • Anticipate organizational, operational, and business needs, and proactively identify solutions to meet those needs. Apply advanced critical thinking skills
  • Assist and/or represent the leadership team as needed in the preparation and presentation of reports and other materials for assigned initiatives. Demonstrate advanced communication and presentation skills
  • Collaborate and engage with peers to provide support as needed to their functional areas, and to ensure that your work and approach aligns with that supported by their respective functions
  • Promote Agile product management processes, stays abreast of new emerging technology capabilities and leverages knowledge in contributing to product solutions
  • Background in developing operational and initiative-level reporting metrics (and tie to quality goals)

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working with the product model or in a product organization
  • 5+ years of healthcare background
  • 5+ years of experience in Release Management
  • 5+ years of Business Analysis experience
  • 3+ years of experience configuring requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Utilization Management
  • Familiarity with UHG Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance Policies and Procedures
  • Optum Clinical Manager (OCM) 1.0 or 2.0 program level expertise and familiarity
  • Familiarity with Agile and Agile Tools such as Rally and AHA
  • Proven to be skilled at negotiating to compromise when stakeholders have competing interests
  • Proven to be a self-starter with the ability to appropriately assess the need for independent decision-making verses leadership escalation
  • Proven excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to react to product adjustments and expectations promptly and efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize product capabilities and drive implementation

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
