We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Controller for one of our clients in Fredericksburg, TX. This role requires hands-on financial leadership and oversight in key areas such as cash management, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), month-end close, equipment accounting, and job setup in accounting software. The position offers flexibility with part-time to full-time onsite presence each week.

Role Overview:

As the Interim Controller, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing various financial operations. You will provide direct support and strategic oversight to ensure effective cash management, accurate financial reporting, and efficient handling of AP and AR functions. Your role will involve working closely with the accounting team and senior management to drive financial accuracy and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cash Management: Oversee and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity and effective use of resources.
  • Accounts Receivable & Payable: Supervise and provide guidance to the AP and AR staff, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
  • Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements and reports.
  • Equipment Accounting: Manage equipment accounting, including depreciation, capitalization, and tracking.
  • Job Setup: Oversee the setup of jobs in the accounting software to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce and interpret financial statements, providing insights and recommendations for financial decision-making.
Candidate Must-Haves:
  • Independent Controllership Experience: Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar independent financial leadership role.
  • AP & AR Oversight: Experience overseeing accounts payable and receivable staff.
  • Financial Statements: Ability to produce, analyze, and interpret financial statements.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to Fredericksburg part-time or full-time each week, as required.
Candidate Preferred:
  • Construction Industry Experience: Background in the construction industry, including engineering, construction, aggregate, and/or equipment rental, is highly desirable.
