New York, New York, United States Cockroach Labs Full time

Databases are the beating heart of every business in the world.

What you build and where it takes you should be unrestricted by the capabilities of your database. We created CockroachDB as the planet's most highly evolved, cloud-native, distributed SQL database. Making scale so simple you don't even have to think about it. Making data so resilient it becomes impossible to destroy. Making delivery so seamless, your apps run anywhere. Join us on our mission to build a different breed of database—one born in the cloud and built from the ground up to help companies of any size scale fast, survive disaster, and thrive everywhere.

About the Role

Cockroach Labs is actively seeking a leader for our Corporate Marketing team, a role critical to steering our corporate marketing strategy with a focus on engaging IT decision-makers and architects, within our ideal customer profile (ICP). This leadership position demands a strategic thinker who excels in content marketing, social media, analyst relations, and public relations. A key aspect of this role involves working closely with peers in product marketing, demand generation, and brand teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to our marketing efforts. By aligning with these teams, you will ensure that our messaging, campaigns, and brand initiatives are thoroughly synchronized across all touchpoints, delivering a unified and compelling narrative that resonates deeply with our target market.

With your guidance, the corporate marketing strategy will not only embody the voice of our customer but also leverage insights from cross-functional collaboration with subject matter experts from R&D, Sales Engineering (SEs), and other departments. A key responsibility will also include mastering the distribution of content across platforms, ensuring that we are effectively repackaging and repromoting content to achieve the high ROI. This will involve a deep understanding of how to cut up and tailor content for different channels, maximizing reach and engagement with our ICP. To be eligible for this role, you must be based in NYC and will be expected to go into our Flatiron office on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays.

You Will

  • Craft and execute a corporate marketing strategy that targets IT decision-makers and architects, ensuring our messages are impactful and resonate with their specific challenges and needs.
  • Take charge of RoachFest's event programming, selecting themes, content, and speakers that not only align with our strategic goals but also cater to the interests and challenges of our ICP, showcasing CockroachDB's capabilities
  • Manage our customer reference program, utilizing success stories that demonstrate the value of CockroachDB to IT decision-makers and architects, thereby supporting our sales efforts and strengthening our market position.
  • Design and implement a robust public relations strategy to enhance media engagement, manage press relations, and increase brand visibility through strategic communication and storytelling.
  • Expand our social media strategy, focusing on creating content that resonates with our ICP on LinkedIn and YouTube. This involves a strategic partnership with the executive team to amplify their engagement and perspectives within these communities, leveraging their visibility to foster a deeper connection with our audience.
  • Spearhead SEO strategy and initiatives aimed at increasing web traffic, working closely with the digital marketing and content teams to optimize our online presence for search engines, improving visibility, and driving qualified traffic to our site.
  • Engage with industry analysts, particularly through strategic partnerships with firms like Gartner, to bolster our presence and credibility within our enterprise market segment, ensuring our narrative is compelling to our ICP.
  • Support comprehensive marketing campaigns that clearly position CockroachDB as the database solution of choice for key verticals, highlighting our key use cases and ease of migration.
  • Instill a customer-centric approach within the team, prioritizing insights into our customers' needs and preferences to guide all marketing activities and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies, making data-driven decisions to refine and optimize our approach continually.

You Have

  • 10-12+ years of experience in marketing within b2b SAAS, with a profound understanding of the needs and decision-making processes of enterprise firms
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience, with a proven ability to inspire, manage, and mentor a high-performing team in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with product marketing, demand generation, and brand teams, ensuring strategic alignment and execution of integrated marketing plans.
  • A track record of engaging with industry analysts and utilizing customer success stories to effectively communicate the value proposition of tech solutions to a sophisticated audience.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, capable of leveraging data to guide strategic decisions and optimize marketing effectiveness.
  • Outstanding communication skills, adept at crafting and conveying complex technical solutions in a manner that is accessible and compelling to IT decision-makers and architects.
  • A strategic, customer-centric mindset, complemented by a hands-on approach to tackling challenges and driving innovation within the marketing domain.

Our Benefits

  • Competitive Health Insurance Coverage (for you & your dependents)
  • Paid Parental Leave (with baby bucks)
  • Flexible PTO
  • Learning & Development Budget
  • Relocation Support (as applicable)
