The Information Technology team equips our employees with the latest tools to complete their work efficiently and with the highest standards of excellence. The team is responsible for shielding the company's systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG's businesses to achieve their goals. AIG's Information Technology functions include application development and management, enterprise architecture, and technology risk and compliance.

The Technology Architect / Technical lead is accountable for technology and digital strategies, program and project delivery, technology standards, security and innovation for multiple lines of business including Underwriting for Casualty and Financial lines and CAT Risk Modeling. In this role, you will be responsible for building application architecture landscape, design and developing new product enhancements working closely with business stakeholders. This role is also accountable for the day to day IT operations for multiple lines of business and you will work closely with the Global Production Support and Infrastructure organizations to ensure that services are monitored and maintained within agreed tolerances, and that all business critical services are proactively patched and updated in line with Architectural and IT Security standards. This is a senior technical level role that is expected to have hands-on development, architecture and design skills

What you need to know
  • Strong experience working in the Insurance industry across various lines such as Casualty, Financial lines and Catastrophic Risk. Experience working with CAT modeling tools and technologies is highly desirable.
  • Have a strong understanding of technology and architecture design and development skills.
  • Hands on AWS Architecture, multi cloud domain, digital transformation, IT modernization experience.
  • Large-scale systems integration involving on-premises technology and public cloud platforms.
  • Experience architecting and deploying production cloud workloads on AWS.
  • Formulate and execute global catastrophe pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, reinsurance and underwriting teams to integrate insights into pricing frameworks.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the development of new methodologies.
  • Oversee monthly portfolio roll-up for the entire enterprise and optimize process to improve efficiency.
  • Assist in the validation of the vendor or in-house built Cat models using claims or other data.
  • Provide ability to build and maintain custom tools to help the company better manage catastrophe risk.
  • Experience / support in managing large infrastructure and application management.
  • Good insurance and banking domain experience (property, casualty)
  • Communicate effectively and build relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs, priorities and work to build trust and rapport.
  • Stay-up to date on the latest trends and technologies and contribute to the development and implementation of the company's technology strategy.
  • Promote line of business knowledge and understanding, working with the business and your team to clarify and refine these.
  • Drive education and adoption of Digital, introducing innovation and being an advocate for what technology can provide. Challenge the business and IT to find the most relevant, most appropriate technology, based on your deep digital experience and your knowledge of the line of business and requirements.
  • Take accountability for successful delivery of current and future projects to deliver enhancements and new IT capabilities to the business, implement new products and refresh legacy technology.
  • Own risk identification, management, and escalation as it relates to Technology and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Make day-to-day decisions on the operational elements of the technology team's deliverables, managing escalations received from the business.
What we're looking for
  • 12+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science or information Systems, 6+ years in model development and/or delivery with a proven track record of success.
  • Solid experience of catastrophic risk modeling platforms and variety of modeling methodologies and tools
  • Extensive and proven experience in Technology roles in Insurance, delivering medium and large-scale programs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Strong proficiency with SQL.
  • Programming skills in a language such as C#, dotnet, VBA, R, or Python, is required.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide valuable insights.
  • Experience of driving education and adoption of Digital technologies through introducing innovation and being an advocate for what technology can provide along with challenging the business and IT to find the most relevant, most appropriate technology, based on a high level of digital experience, and knowing a business and its requirements.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and visualization techniques
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends and technologies in modeling.
  • Experience of leading an IT function, working in matrix managed environments, stakeholder management that can result in multiple changes.
  • Team player, ability to work effectively in challenging and complex environments.
  • Big picture/strategic thinker.
  • Clear and confident communicator, ability to challenge and influence change at a strategic level.
