The Position

Network & Infrastructure Specialist


Location

Chicago, IL (On-site)


Overview:

The Network and Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for the organization’s networking and cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role includes designing, implementing, and maintaining network systems, supporting cloud infrastructure, and enforcing cybersecurity protocols to protect organizational assets.



Essential Functions:

Networking Support:

  • Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Implement network upgrades and enhancements to support business growth and technology advancements.
  • Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Cloud Infrastructure Support:

  • Manage and support cloud infrastructure services, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
  • Deploy and configure cloud resources, ensuring they meet business and security requirements – Azure Cloud Certification a must.
  • Monitor cloud usage and performance, optimizing for cost-efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of cloud-based applications.

Cybersecurity:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures to safeguard network and cloud environments.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Respond to security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Stay current with emerging threats and security trends, recommending and applying necessary updates and patches.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members and departments to support overall technology goals.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity.
  • Document and maintain all technical processes and procedures related to network and infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA, GIAC AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable.
  • Meraki knowledge and certification are a must.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and Azure Certification.
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity principles, including threat detection, response, and mitigation.
