Summary:

Our client is looking to add an Infrastructure Specialist who will have a focus on the management of their infrastructure, including the deployment, configuration, and administration of servers, storage solutions, and virtualization platforms. This person will oversee the seamless integration of their various locations, which includes cloud environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery capabilities. Additionally, you will implement robust backup and recovery processes, perform regular system upgrades and patches, and ensure that all systems adhere to the latest security best practices and compliance standards.


This role will optimize the IT infrastructure, identifying opportunities for automation, and driving initiatives that enhance system performance and reduce operational costs. The role will collaborate closely with other IT teams to deliver a cohesive IT environment that aligns with our business objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


Server and System Administration:

  • Maintain physical, virtual servers and cloud servers with a mix of Windows, Linux, and other environments.
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory, including user accounts, groups, and policies.
  • Ensure all servers are secure and updated appropriately.
  • Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system resources to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
  • Implement and manage server backup and recovery processes, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery solutions.


Cloud Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure, primarily in Microsoft Azure.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resources for cost, performance, and scalability.
  • Implement and manage cloud-based services such as virtual machines, storage, networking, and databases.
  • Manage hybrid cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises and cloud systems.


Storage and Backup Management:

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage.
  • Monitor storage systems to ensure optimal performance and capacity planning.
  • Implement robust backup strategies to protect critical data, including offsite and cloud-based backups.
  • Regularly test backup and recovery processes to ensure data can be restored in case of a disaster or data loss.


Network Infrastructure Support:

  • Provide support for network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring reliable and secure communication between systems.
  • Assist in network troubleshooting and problem resolution, working closely with network engineers.
  • Implement network configuration changes as needed to support infrastructure projects.


System Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Utilize monitoring tools to continuously assess the health and performance of the IT infrastructure.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they impact business operations.
  • Analyze performance data to make informed decisions on infrastructure improvements and capacity planning.


Security and Compliance:

  • Implement security best practices across the IT infrastructure, including patch management, access control, and data encryption.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, implementing corrective actions as necessary.


Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical IT systems.
  • Perform regular disaster recovery tests to ensure readiness in case of a system failure or disaster.
  • Work with business units to ensure that IT infrastructure supports their business continuity requirements.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the IT infrastructure, including system configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Create and maintain detailed reports on infrastructure performance, capacity, and security.
  • Document all changes to the infrastructure in accordance with change management policies.


Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other IT teams, including network, cybersecurity, and application support, to ensure the seamless operation of IT services.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members and other IT staff.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, providing infrastructure expertise and support.
