We’re seeking an established Media Supervisor or an Associate Media Director. This position will require someone who is already a leader but is also looking for an opportunity to grow.


The ideal candidate will be to lead the accounts, having strategic conversations about the media plans and how those fit into their business as a whole. They’ll be able to utilize research to help craft an insightful and strategic media approach, evaluate media partners, and optimize performance. You should be able to explain on-air audience delivery as easily as viewability monitoring. You will be completely fluent in a world full of acronyms (e.g. GRPs, OOH, CPM, CPP, CTR, CPCV, CPE, CPL, SQAD, R&F, RFPs, and MRI). An exacting sense of financial accountability with stewarding every penny transparently and responsibly in our clients’ media investments is also critical, as is an appreciation of (and perhaps borderline obsession with) data and the story it tells.


You’ll also be expected to operate independently and semi-autonomously as the day-to-day lead on your media accounts, including interfacing with clients and keeping timelines and complex projects moving. You would report directly to the VP of Media. Along with leading media planning across all platforms and buying and negotiation for out-of-home, print, streaming, display, and rich media, you will also collaborate closely with our Group Director of SEM/Social and Performance/Analytics and our Broadcast/Linear partner. You will be expected to be conversationally proficient in the lingo and basic concepts of SEM, paid social, and linear broadcast buying (though you will not be expected to be hands-on in those platforms).


Additionally, you will be mentoring a junior planner, so management and supervisory experience is also necessary as you coach and mentor their personal and professional development.


While leading is necessary, this person must also be willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done…Slingshot is a team-oriented environment, and leaders play an active role in crafting plans and presentations. This position is the perfect mix of strategy and execution.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience (agency experience preferred or a hands-on planning/buying role if client-side)
  • Client-facing presentation experience
  • Team-oriented, roll-up-the-sleeves attitude
  • Insatiable curiosity or a love of puzzles
  • Acute attention to detail and comfort with numbers
  • Excel skills
  • Stellar references
  • In-depth knowledge across all major media types (National TV/Radio, Spot TV/Radio, Print, OOH, and Digital (including display, video, search, and social)
  • In-depth knowledge of third-party ad-serving (e.g., CM360) and exposure to other reporting/tracking resources, such as attribution modeling or dashboard services (e.g., Tableau, Adverity, Datorama)
  • Skilled with using syndicated research tools and gleaning actionable insights (e.g., comScore, eTelmar, MRI-Simmons, Vivvix (formerly Kantar Strategy), etc.)


Slingshot is a mid-sized, independent agency in Dallas, Texas, founded on a culture of innovation and driven by a welcoming and entrepreneurial spirit at all levels, from the front desk to the corner office. Most team members work hybrid schedules, with one day at home and four days at the office during the week, so this position is intended to be local in Dallas.
