Trust Officer

San Pasqual Fiduciary Trust Company is the only California and Nevada-based trust company dedicated to providing trustee-only services. We do not sell investment products, which enables us to provide our clients with truly impartial fiduciary service. We devote our skills, expertise, and resources to trust administration and management. We are a small but growing firm located in Downtown Los Angeles, California and Reno, Nevada.

· An organized, detail-oriented, hands-on team player who enjoys a challenge.

· Has a problem-solving mentality, can think on their feet and change course quickly and calmly.

· A good communicator, willing and able to take the initiative to pick up the phone to speak with clients or advisors in order to resolve concerns or issues.

Currently located within a commutable distance of our DTLA office.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Serve as Trust Officer on a variety of trusts to ensure each trust is administered in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the terms of the governing instrument

· On-board new trusts including review and interpretation of trust documents to identify any potential issues, marshalling of assets and preparation of internal account set-up forms

· Apply principles of the California Probate Code applicable to trust administration and understand the tax implications of the various kinds of trusts

· Effectively establish and manage client relationships through interaction with grantors and beneficiaries

· Determine beneficiary distribution amounts and frequency and present any discretionary distributions for Trust Committee approval

· Perform annual reviews of assigned trusts and evaluate the performance of investment advisors assigned to the trusts

· Establish and maintain relationships with attorneys, CPA’s and other professional advisors to assure clients receive quality service and to enhance business development opportunities

Other duties as required

Educational and Other Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree (Emphasis in Trust Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, or Law preferable )

Additional certification (i.e. JD /MBA/CTFA/CFP/CPA) strongly preferred

· 3-5 years of trust administration or planning experience with a focus on exemplary customer service service for high net-worth clients ($1MM+ level clientele).

· Experience with ultra-high net worth multi-generational $50MM+ families with complicated assets and sophisticated trust structures strongly preferred.

· Demonstrated experience with sophisticated trust and asset structures, and providing thoughtful client solutions.

Desired Skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Excellent organizational skills and superior time management

· Outstanding verbal and written communication

· Capacity to understand complex legal documents (trusts, wills, court rulings)

· Exceptional attention to detail in all facets of the job

· The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

· Ability to ask for/take feedback on work and apply changes as necessary

· Flexible and receptive to contribute in a variety of ways that often arise in a small office environment that may not correlate to the candidate’s technical skill set, and actively suggest improvements to procedures and policies.

· A strong work ethic, willing to work extended hours as needed.

· Strong preference for previous experience with ClientPoint, TrustDesk and/or OneSource.

PLEASE NOTE that we are ONLY looking for local candidates. This position is NOT 100% remote and we do not pay for relocation services.
