Job Summary:


The primary focus of the Business Development Manager is to engage with key clients and stakeholders in the Subsea and Offshore Construction Industry. The Business Development Manager is required to possess excellent marketing and negotiation skills, an in-depth knowledge of the Subsea and Offshore Construction Industry including ROV Operations, a consultative selling approach, and the ability to establish swift and effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers. The role of the Business Development Manager is critical to the success of the organization, and it demands a high level of professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail. The Business Development Manager should be capable of building and maintaining a robust network of contacts, identifying new opportunities, and implementing effective strategies to drive growth and profitability.


Employee Responsibilities:


As the Business Development Manager, it is essential that you understand and implement the Strategic Plan for 2023-2028. You must have a clear understanding of how the set strategic goals and objectives can be achieved to promote the Company Vision. It is vital to comprehend how your position fits into the organization. As a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) member, you must have read and understood "The Leadership Challenge" by Kouzes & Posner. Within 90 days of employment, you need to understand and promote the Company’s ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and how it works. You should also assist in implementing other "Key Systems and Processes" to operate on a high level. You should participate in all SLT meetings and brainstorming sessions to help with the growth and perfection of the Company's Strategic Plan.


Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Locate a third-party marketing firm that can assist the Company in expanding our customer base.
  • Develop a detailed marketing plan that covers all aspects of promoting the Company's services.
  • Update spec sheets for all the Company's vessels.
  • Update the Company's website and project resumes.
  • Develop vessel capabilities sheet.
  • Work alongside the VP of Project Services on client-specific marketing.
  • Create standard PowerPoint presentations.
  • Create Client Feedback Surveys.
  • Provide Business Development and Marketing activities.
  • Lead proposal development as an Estimator and also manage projects as an assistant to Project Management.
  • The ability to move around with ease, similar to the current staff, is a necessary requirement. It is essential to maintain flexibility in order to perform duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Identify key stakeholders to develop the relationships necessary for originating and closing transactions.
  • Work with the CEO, VP of Projects and VP Project Services to create and execute a comprehensive strategy to manage existing and future industry partnerships.
  • Facilitate strategy review meetings with the CEO, CFO, VP of Projects, VP of Project Services, and VP of Marine Operations to review market opportunities.
  • Work with the Estimating Manager to develop capture strategies for specific targeted prospects.
  • Lead existing Sales Manager, and recruit/mentor future Sales Associate.
  • Track and report KPIs while measuring the Company’s success in the Subsea and Offshore Construction industry.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a strong client base.
  • Issue and track client satisfaction surveys.
  • Implement and use quality management and regulatory compliance strategies (ISO 9001).
  • Data analysis on competitor intelligence.
  • Coordinate the Company's client events.
  • Develop solutions with clients, utilizing a strong technical understanding of Subsea and Offshore Construction operations.
  • Deliver annual revenue targets through disciplined execution of the Company's Strategic Plan.
  • Drive new business growth and build critical mass within agreed time frames, in target markets.
  • Propose solutions to clients through presentations, bids, tender submissions, proposals, and informally through networking, industry events, relationships, and discussions.
  • Manage and report the achievement of business development targets and industry performance/trends.


Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. (BBA in Marketing highly preferred)
  • At least 15 years of Business Development and or Marketing experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of the Company's Strategic Plan and policies.


Technical Requirements:

  • Must be proficient and effectively able to work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Smartsheet
  • Must be able to work on Mac computers. Training is available upon request.
  • Must understand document control and file sharing procedures, Dropbox, and other online tools.
  • Proficient (or working knowledge) of Customer Relationship Management software.


Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment.
  • Able to attend meetings on the vessels and/or dockside (navigate stairs, ladders, etc.)
  • Must possess and maintain the physical ability to safely perform the duties of the Business Development Manager’s position.
  • Maintain the ability to work primarily in Houston, Texas, with the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
